My top anti-inflammatory ingredients you should add to your diet

Actualizado: 24 dic 2018

First lets talk about inflamation, Inflammation is part of the immune response.

It's a process that depends both on the physical actions of white blood cells and the chemicals that they produce: antibodies, cytokines, and the like.

Over the last several decades, scientists have identified dozens of new immunological and inflammatory molecules and the pathways through which they interact. The loops and feedbacks of those pathways mean inflammation can be turned on and off in any number of ways.

The problem comes when it is left on, for no apparent reason.

Inflamation in the body seems to be the root for the majority of diseases.

The food you eat can actually increase or decrease the inflammatory response  and research shows it impacts your likelihood to develop heart disease, obesity, dementia, chronic pain and autoimmune diseases.

Needless to say, the goal is to reduce inflammation as much as possible! The good news is that it's easy to do it by adding key foods to your diet and reducing the toxic load from processed, sugary foods.

These are the top seven anti-inflammatory foods you should be eating now:

Apple cider vinegar: Vinegar can help kill pathogens, including bacteria, wich is great to keep the flu season away of your body!, acv also lowers Blood Sugar Levels and Fights Diabetes and can lower cholesterol levels , its great for a better digestion this means you will be less bloated during your day, 1-2 teaspoon in a large glass of warm water after you wake up or before your main meals is enough to feel its benefits! ( i recommend just 1 glass per day or if you have an stomach issue better consult with your health practitioner)

Lemon: its a great source of vitamin C, which is a primary antioxidant that helps protect cells from damaging free radicals. Vitamin C may reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, and lower blood pressure. Research published in Stroke showed that people with low vitamin C levels, especially obese men with high blood pressure, have a higher risk of stroke. Improves insulin resistance, Drinking warm or hot lemon water when you wake up may help get your digestive system moving, lemon is a great detoxifier ingredient for a dalily basis! even more during the cold days!

Turmeric: Easily one of my favourite spices, turmeric is also one of the top anti-inflammatory herbs. With its bright orange colour, it adds vibrancy and a really unique, smoky flavour to any dish!  i love to drink it in teas, 1 teaspoon in warm water with a bit of ginger and lemon, or in my golden milk.

Greens: Is there anything greens can't do? Dark, leafy greens like spinach, kale and silverbeet are packed with antioxidants, which help reduce toxic load and protect us from cellular damage and an inflammatory response. Enjoy them raw when you can (think fresh salads, smoothies and juices) but they're great when sautéed in coconut oil, too.

Ginger: Crush inflammation with this spicy root  it's great to add to a post-workout smoothie. It reduces nausea, too, and is amazing as a herbal tea. Like onions, ginger contains compounds that function in much the same way as anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin and ibuprofen.I love adding ginger to savoury dishes, or just add a bit of grated ginger to a hot cup of water with a bit of lemon juice and drink it to fight flu! (ask your doctor if you are taking medication because Too much ginger can lead to thinning of the blood, which can be dangerous if you are taking certain drugs)

Fish oil: Another extremely effective weapon against inflammation, fish oil is high in omega-3s. In large enough amounts, research shows that it reduces the inflammatory process that leads to many chronic illnesses like asthma, depression, cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases, and even cancer. Be sure you're getting a quality oily fish, like salmon and mackerel from a reliable source, in your diet.

Garlic: This plant superstar has been revered for its medicinal properties for hundreds of years. It's thought to benefit more than 150 different conditions and has benefits ranging from anti-inflammatory to anti-viral to antioxidant. Chop it up and add it to just about any savoury dish for a boost of flavour and superfood power, or use it as a tea, a bit grated in a hot water cup with a lemon juice and enjoy its benefits, 100% recommended! (just be careful and ask your doctor if you had some thyroid condition)

Carrots: The high level of beta-carotene in carrots acts as an antioxidant to cell damage done to the body through regular metabolism. It help slows down the aging of cells. Vitamin A assists the liver in flushing out the toxins from the body. It reduces the bile and fat in the liver. The fiber present in carrots helps clean out the colon and hasten waste movement, also its great for a healthy skin you can eat it or make a mask!
